Building Leadership Capacity in Emergency Management

Leadership and resilience are crucial elements to effective disaster response. Please join us for this informative webcast on Building Leadership Capacity in Emergency Management. During the program, Professor Figley will share his work in co-founding the Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy at Tulane University in 2009. He will discuss the role of psychosocial and behavioral health in understanding how leaders can facilitate resilience and remain resilient. Dr. Figley will present a new platform for building leadership capacity among educational institutions in countries especially vulnerable to natural disasters. After the Blast," engages participants in three interactive missions occurring in response to the detonation of a Radiological Dispersal Device (RDD or "dirty bomb"). "Dirty Bomb! After the Blast" was developed with extensive assistance from subject matter experts from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, International Mass Fatalities Center, and Minnesota Department of Health Radioactive Materials Unit.
